Answers are provided by sediments from latrines and other waste pits that have been excavated and studied for the past three years at Molkenmarkt in Berlin-Mitte.
At the workshop table, experts in archaeobotany will demonstrate how plant remains are extracted from sediment samples. Join them in looking through the microscope and learn how plants are identified, counted, and the results analyzed. You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at identification.
We’ll start on May 26 with seeds and fruits. At a second session on July 9, we’ll focus on pollen and also come across whipworm eggs.
The workshop table is located in front of the restoration workshop on the 2nd floor.
