How can I manage to be the same person next week as I am this week? How hard do I have to try to want one thing more than another? What if my love flows without asking me?

90 Apparate uses short texts and drawings to explore the pitfalls of being a person with an identity—how strange it is to have a body, to make decisions, to find one’s place among other people, and to be connected to a sense of meaning. These oddities are central to the hidden self-understanding of our ever-threatened body-mind-soul-psyche apparatuses: For alongside our official, scientifically shaped notions, we all have a second set of surrealistic images of how we function. These images have their own—often technical—logic and their own beauty. And they determine, to a large extent, who we are and what we do.
