THE MAGIC FLUTE AND THE STAR HARPS: MUSIC IN FAIRY TALES AND STORIES

From 5 to 22 November 2026, the world’s largest fairy-tale festival will bring a host of dazzling experiences to the grey days of November with its rich programme of events, which this year is dedicated to music in fairy tales and stories.

Music brings people together across generations and cultural boundaries. As a universal language, it is far more than the interplay of individual notes. In fairy tales and stories, it is often attributed with magical powers: it can save lives, heal hearts and bestow new vitality. Music unfolds its special power where words reach their limits. It opens up new avenues of expression, makes emotions tangible and forges connections between people that go beyond the spoken word.

The BERLIN FAIRY TALE DAYS invite people of all generations to experience the unifying power of fairy tales and music.

With concerts, stories, readings, discussions, theatre performances and much more, the festival – in collaboration with numerous partners – invites people to various venues to rediscover the magic of fairy tales and music.

  • For example, school classes in Berlin are invited by ambassadors and regional representatives to hear fairy-tale stories.
  • Fairy-tale journeys with celebrities, politicians and business leaders are part of the programme.
  • A host of Berlin libraries, cabarets, museums and theatres are taking part in the festival.
