The highlight of Berlin’s winter: Christmas markets

From romantic and nostalgic to vibrant and action-packed, Berlin’s Christmas markets are as diverse as the city itself. Visit the magical WinterZauber, which will once again bathe the newly renovated Gendarmenmarkt in a festive glow. Explore Scandinavian and Japanese Christmas markets, discover hidden gems set against historic backdrops, or enjoy the thrills of fairground rides and fun attractions. Wander past festively decorated stalls, sip mulled wine or punch, and indulge in freshly baked waffles.

Although the official Christmas market season doesn’t begin until 23 November 2025 (Totensonntag), the scent of waffles and hot mulled wine already drifts through the cooler autumn air. The Winterwelt at Potsdamer Platz traditionally opens the festivities early. Here, you can speed into the season on a 70-metre-long winter toboggan run—right in the heart of Berlin.

Join us in celebrating the season at these early-opening winter markets, and share in the anticipation of Christmas magic. We’ll update all dates as soon as they are confirmed.

We wish you a peaceful festive season—and countless joyful winter moments.
