The highlight of Berlin's winter: Christmas markets
From nostalgic to action-packed: Berlin has so many different Christmas markets that you're sure to find your favourite christmas market. Choose between Scandinavian or Japanese Christmas markets, Christmas markets with beautiful backdrops and markets with carnivals and rides. Or visit a Christmas market in any of Berlin's districts. Stroll along glamorously lit shopping streets while enjoying a break with mulled wine, punch and freshly baked waffles.
Officially, Berlin’s Christmas market season doesn’t begin until Totensonntag (Sunday of the Dead) on 23 November 2025. But as the days turn crisp, the first twinkling stalls are already popping up—tempting you with the scent of fresh waffles and hot mulled wine. Winterwelt at Potsdamer Platz is traditionally the first to open, where you can launch into the season by tobogganing down a 70-metre winter slide in the heart of the city.
Get into the spirit with these winter markets opening ahead of the official start. We’ll add more dates as they’re confirmed.
Wishing you a peaceful, reflective season.
