Three crime scenes, one man for the dirty work

Three episodes from Mizzi Meyer’s popular TV crime series.

Just Ordinary Jobs

Schotty is in the middle of cleaning the blood-stained bathroom of a flat when the doorbell rings. Standing there is a prostitute who wants to visit her client. When she finds out that he has been murdered, she wants to leave immediately.

But Schotty persuades her to stay. Both consider themselves hardened by their professions and gradually grow closer. What begins as an unusual encounter develops into a surprisingly candid conversation. In the end, the two bare not their bodies, but their souls.

Above the Clouds

A woman has been bludgeoned to death with an axe by her husband. For Schotty, this means a mountain of work. At the same time, he is struggling with nicotine withdrawal and the resulting bad mood.

Then, of all people, the murderer returns to the crime scene. He encounters an extremely irritable crime scene cleaner who has little patience for excuses or bad moods at the moment.

Not on my sofa

Schotty is called to the villa of a wealthy widow. There, a burglar is said to have fallen down the stairs whilst fleeing and died. At least, that’s what the old lady claims.

Whilst Schotty goes about his work, he discovers evidence suggesting that the burglar was killed with a golf club. When he announces that he’s going to call the police, the widow tries to buy his silence with a Maserati. Of all things, Schotty’s dream car.

‘Der Tatortreiniger’ combines black humour, bizarre encounters and surprisingly profound conversations. Amidst bloodstains and corpses, it is above all the depths of the living that are revealed.
