In the series *Pechblende*, images are created without a camera or external light source: radioactive substances act directly on photographic film. Kriemann also turns her attention to residues of heavy industry that have gone unnoticed as they have become part of our everyday lives—such as slag, which was used as filler material in Berlin’s Gründerzeit-era buildings, including her own studio. Landscape and architecture thus enter into a dialogue about the material aftereffects of industrial exploitation.
The exhibition showcases Kriemann’s expanded understanding of photography, which encompasses both materials and processes. It explores how such hidden effects can be perceived and what insights may emerge from paying attention to this legacy.
- The work is presented in collaboration with Stelios Kallinikou’s *Cliffs Among Dreams* as a dual exhibition as part of *After Nature . Ulrike Crespo Photography Prize 26*, making its debut at C/O Berlin.
