Coq au Vin Children's and Family Theater
To mix the dough, they skillfully weave acrobatic feats with dance choreography and megalomaniacally showcase their extraordinary culinary prowess.
The children energetically feed apples into the kitchen robot, which then processes them and mixes them into the batter. Hovering over their successful cooking is the irony of failure, which makes the show hilarious.
Despite many difficulties, the clown chefs remain undeterred, and together with the children, they celebrate baking and cooking as the ultimate pleasure in a completely natural way. In the end, the wave of enthusiasm for cooking reaches such heights that the audience loudly demands an encore.
At the Amberg City Theater, Coq Au Vin won first prize with this play at the 15th Children’s Theater Festival in 2019.
- Children’s theater program for ages 3–10—however, the Coq Au Vin Children’s Theater recommends this play for ages 3 to 93

Passauer Neue Presse
“A storm of enthusiasm for this wild kitchen circus. 500 children couldn’t stop marveling! ... The performers engage closely with the audience and encourage their reactions. … one of the few children’s theater productions where adults are just as thrilled as the kids!”
IVZ Ibbenbüren
“The young audience members especially had a blast at the fun show by the children’s theater group ‘Coq au vin’ at the community center. To keep the audience entertained until the very end in these midsummer temperatures, it takes successful audience interaction, culminating in a daring and entertaining performance involving the audience.”
Hamburger Abendblatt
“Through its extraordinary combination of dance, theater, acrobatics, and clowning, the culinary circus not only captivates the little ones but also awakens a desire in the occasional kitchen-shy person to pick up a wooden spoon again.”
