Max Czollek in Conversation with Jan Kuhlbrodt and Martina Hefter

The climate crisis, authoritarian tendencies, hostility, and militarism. In a world that is increasingly falling apart, Max Czollek turns to the power of friendship in the fourth season of his talk series.

From journalism to theory and art to pop culture: everywhere, people are working together to bring their ideas, projects, and political goals to life.

So how important is friendship for navigating the present while not losing sight of the question of a better shared future?

Following the one-on-one conversations of the first three seasons of the series (Theater of Reconciliation, Coping with the Present, and The Beginning Is Near), in 2026 Czollek invites two figures who are connected by friendship in one way or another, collaborate, or support one another in their work.

He discusses with them how important this common ground is in their political and artistic work, and what role aspects of emotionality and pop-cultural processing play alongside their shared analysis.

That is why the series is called: Discourse. Pop. Love.
