Café M

Feels like 80s.

Founded in 1979, the legendary café is still a meeting place for young people and the young at heart. Enjoy a beer, wine or coffee under the neon lights in the dining room and feel like you've been transported back to the 80s.

There are also numerous legends surrounding Café M. A mixture of artists, musicians, bohemians and weird birds gathered here early on.

Scene hotspot of the 80s and 90s

Blixa Bargeld, singer of Einstürzende Neubauten, and Harry Hass are said to have drunk their coffee here regularly. Nick Cave also liked to pop in during his Berlin years in the early 1990s. Later, artists such as Jim Avignon and the writer Bernd Cailoux were among the guests.

The mixture of music, film and subculture scene made the M a small but glamorous legend in West Berlin's nightlife.
