A walk through the woods on Reiswerder
On the road with the forest ranger
Tegeler See (Lake Tegel) is not only a popular destination for day trips, but also an important habitat for wildlife. Embark on an exciting exploration of Berlin’s forests and round off the day on Reiswerder Island.
The BerlinPay offer
As part of the BerlinPay campaign, a very special walk to this island will take place on 5 June: Kristina Quast, the forester for the Gatow district in Reinickendorf, will take anyone interested on a hike through the peaceful natural landscape of Berlin’s forests and offer fascinating insights into the ecosystem. To help look after this beautiful spot in Berlin, all participants are invited to join a clean-up. As a thank you, everyone will receive a free hot or cold drink on Reiswerder Island, the final stop of the roughly three-hour tour. Advance registration is required.
- When: 5 June, 3pm – 6pm
- Registration: by email to events@reinickendorf.berlin.de
- Meeting point: at the “Weg nach Reiswerder” bus stop on route 133 on Bernauer Straße
About Tegeler See
Tegeler See in Reinickendorf is nestled amongst Berlin’s forests, such as Jungfernheide and the Tegeler Forst. It is also home to a total of seven islands. A special route leads through this natural landscape along the banks of the Havel to the idyllic island of Reiswerder, which is only accessible by ferry. The island, which is around 330 metres long and 180 metres wide, forms part of the “Inseln im Tegeler See” nature reserve. Part of the island is deliberately left to nature to create space for herons and kingfishers, as well as wild boars.
