Neighbourhood Tour - Elegant Charlottenburg for groups

Shopping

A journey through time from the Belle Époque to the "New City West". The nouveau riche living space of the Charlottenburgers at that time can still be wonderfully recognised today by the old buildings. After 1948, the area around the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church developed more and more into a "showcase of the West" and, after the Wall was built, into a modern centre for day and nightlife in West Berlin. Much has been invested and much has been "polished" in recent years and so this area continues to defy all influences with its elegant and cosmopolitan lifestyle. This tour takes us from Haus Bikini to Neuer Kranzler-Eck in Ku'Damm, on through Fasanenstraße and across the "design mile" (Kantstraße) to Savignyplatz. This tour is also suitable for an evening walk.

Further information
Start: Budapester Str. 38-50 (centre entrance to Haus Bikini)
End: Savignyplatz 5
Duration: 2 hours
Price: 250 €
Number of participants: max. 25 guests per guide

Queer Berlin tour

Regenbogenstraße

Paragraph 175, which once criminalised homosexuality, was only finally and definitively abolished after reunification in 1994. During the Nazi era, men were deported to concentration camps and localities were closed. Nevertheless, a great struggle for the acceptance of same-sex life in Berlin began after the war; shaken and moved by HIV, a small and large world of "gay life" with advice centres, doctors' surgeries and self-help groups emerged in defiance and consolation. Bars & clubs, leather and fetish clothing shops, restaurants and clubs have now become well "established and normalised". Much of this has even survived the fast-moving times and has become naturalised. This hetero-friendly walk is reminiscent of the past and also shows the present with its exciting contrasts from tragic to dazzling and takes us from Nollendorfplatz, Maaßenstraße and Nollendorfstraße to Eisenacher Straße and Motzstraße, Martin-Luther-Straße to Fuggerstraße where the legendary Dollywood once stood.

Further information
Start: Nollendorfplatz underground station at the "Todgeschwiegen & Todgeschlagen" monument
End: Fuggerstraße / corner of Welser Straße
Duration: 2 hours
Price: 250 €
Number of participants: max. 25 guests per guide
