Highlights of the quiz

For once, this edition of the quiz isn’t taking place on Earth. The quizmasters, Tom and Darren, are taking you on a short hike across the Moon and showing you the most beautiful of the 1.3 million craters formed over the last 4.3 billion years.

Along the way, they’ll be searching for water, explaining why Americans, Indians, Chinese and others are keen to land on Earth’s popular satellite soon, and, amidst the lunar dust and old Apollo footprints, they’ll uncover a few untouched questions, sharp-edged picture puzzles and extraterrestrial sound snippets for you.

If you’re reasonably free from vertigo, hold a rocket licence as well as a driving licence, and know a thing or two about interplanetary trajectory calculations, you’ve come to the right place. If, on top of that, you can recite all seven verses of ‘Der Mond ist aufgegangen’ and know that Neil Armstrong never won the Tour de France, you’ve even got a chance of winning. And even if you get space sickness just standing on the three-metre diving platform at the outdoor pool, can’t ride a bike halfway safely to your destination, can’t count backwards from ten to zero without making a mistake, and are absolutely convinced that Neil Armstrong was actually that jazz trumpeter, you’re still very welcome.

To take part and return to Earth as a hero, all you need is a small dose of general knowledge, a pinch of luck and, of course, the combined thrust of the swarm intelligence of your crew of up to six people.
