This late-night screening in November, organised in collaboration with the director and artist Anta Recke, explores contemporary perspectives on Christoph Schlingensief’s multifaceted and controversial body of work.

Recke explores various parallels between Schlingensief’s work and her own artistic approach, which includes, in particular, her intensive collaboration with stigmatised and racialised groups.

The practices of both artists are repeatedly at the centre of ethical and aesthetic debates. By collaborating, amongst others, with performers from Schlingensief’s works as part of the ‘Spätschicht’, Recke draws a connection between his work and the political issues of our time.

At the heart of the evening is ‘Kaprow City’, Schlingensief’s stage set presented in the atrium of the Gropius Bau. The installation is expanded for the ‘Spätschicht’ through a screen suspended above the work.

  • Featuring Komi Amado, Cem Kaya, Autumn Knight, Juno Meinecke, Anta Recke, Komi Mizrajim Togbonou and Julian Warner
