Eric Meier in conversation with Heike Albrecht and Camille Compere
The exhibition is dedicated to the writer and journalist Susanne Kerckhoff (1918–1950). Between 1948 and 1949, she published the series “Menschen in unserer Zeit” (“People of Our Time”) in the *Berliner Zeitung*: fictional portraits that explored the issues grappling with which the young post-war society was struggling – guilt, denazification, anti-Semitism and the question of how democracy should even function.
The exhibition explores this series systematically for the first time. Visual art, composition and a literary intervention come together with Kerckhoff’s texts, each drawing on their own biographies, experiences and techniques.
