World Music Salon ‘The Flying Carpet’
Together, they create a synthesis of various musical influences, including jazz, world music, minimal music and Indian percussion. Their programme brings together the bell-like sound of handpans, the resonant tones of the jazz saxophone, vocal elements of the ancient Indian Dhrupad style, and the finest artistry on the pakhawaj and tabla.
In solo passages, they highlight the distinctive features of their music, whilst in dialogue and collective playing they emphasise the common ground between their musical styles.
Their original musical creations – comprising multi-layered soundscapes, complex rhythmic patterns, lively dialogues, poetic melodies and improvisation – bear witness to a transcultural approach in their musical work.
Transcultural world music in the very best sense!
