In technical terminology, the word ‘Luft’ refers to a clearance or gap: a small space between parts that is necessary for movement. Without this clearance, a mechanism becomes too tight, friction increases and movement can no longer continue.
In ‘Seeking Air’, this gap becomes a metaphor for the space required between rigid contexts – a space to breathe, to react and for collective action, for a thought or desire that can be heard and influence reality.
Here, ‘air’ is associated with freedom, time and security, but also with the delicate task of maintaining connections in a situation of pressure.
‘Luft suchen’ invites visitors to understand the exhibition as a search for air amidst the details of reality: as a space in which pressure can be felt whilst simultaneously seeking the possibility of movement. A space in which personal experience meets the collective and the intangible gradually takes shape.
The second exhibition deals with the passing on of knowledge. It explores how experiences of the past can flow into the contemporary space through rituals, care, spiritual practices, intimacy and collective action. Here, ‘air’ appears as a means of healing, stabilisation and the creation of new forms of presence following a period of change. The exhibition is accompanied by a public programme featuring workshops and guided tours.
