On 5 November, psychoanalyst Prof. Eve Watson will speak at the IPU Berlin on femininity, gender diversity and the question of how a person finds their own way of living.
Drawing on the work of Jacques Lacan, Watson examines the misogynistic and dehumanising reactions to femininity, gender non-conformity and trans people. She also explores the ‘sinthome’: a singular invention through which a person can shape their relationship with unconscious jouissance. What possibilities does this idea open up – and what reservations does psychoanalysis itself have regarding gender diversity?
An evening for anyone interested in psychoanalysis, gender and contemporary culture.
