Under the motto ‘Art Helps to Help’, works by 52 artists are going under the hammer this year, including pieces by Thomas Scheibitz, Karin Sander, Heinz Mack, Gerhard Marcks, A K Dolven and Rimini Protokoll. The latter are taking part in an auction for the first time – with a monumental stage set from their production *Shooting Bourbaki*.

The neighbouring institutions at the Kulturforum (including the Gemäldegalerie, the Neue Nationalgalerie and the State Library) are taking part in the auction with art events.

The event is being held under the patronage of Bishop Dr Christian Stäblein, Refugee Commissioner of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, and Diandra Donecker (Grisebach). The artworks will be presented to the public for the first time on 5 November at 6 pm.

Ferda Ataman, the Independent Federal Commissioner for Anti-Discrimination, will give the opening address. As part of the accompanying programme, former Minister of State Claudia Roth will deliver a sermon on 8 November.
