For little ones, the transition from nursery to primary school is no small matter – it’s a really big deal. So it’s great if they can get a feel for what a school is actually like before their first day. And it’s even better not just to have a look around, but to get involved themselves!

To this end, the LUNA PARK initiative has been running regular dance and movement classes for groups of children from nurseries in Wedding for over 10 years, as part of projects such as ‘Tanzt kunterbunt!’ and ‘LUNA PARK – Tanzkünstlerische Übergänge’.

The aim is to promote the children’s motor and cognitive development and, in doing so, to help them develop personal and social skills that will ease their transition into new stages of life. They are guided and supervised by dedicated dance teachers and professional dance artists; at the same time, the neighbouring Gesundbrunnen Primary School organises dance courses for its Year 1 pupils. As part of this, nursery children and Year 1 pupils regularly come together to dance with and for one another.

The children will present a colourful and entertaining selection of the dances and short choreographies created during the course in the performance *Kleine Füße, große Tänze!* on 16 December 2026 in Studio 1 at the Uferstudios.

The performance is part of the ‘LUNA PARK – Tanzkünstlerische Übergänge’ programme run by the LUNA PARK e.V. initiative, in cooperation with Gesundbrunnen Primary School and the ‘Kunterbunt’, ‘Kita Osloer Straße 105D’, ‘Bärenbande’ and ‘Weltkinder’ nursery schools.
