To mark the 2026 Tiemann Prize, the artist Elif Saydam will be in conversation with the curator Charlotte Knaup at the Hamburger Bahnhof.


The Tiemann Prize is an acquisition prize for museums in Germany and specifically supports the acquisition of contemporary painting. With the 2026 prize, the Hamburger Bahnhof is acquiring a group of six works by Elif Saydam from the ‘Späti Paintings’ series.


Elif Saydam was born in Calgary in 1985 and lives and works in Berlin. Her most recent solo exhibitions include shows at the MIT List Visual Arts Centre in Cambridge, the Kunsthal Thy in Denmark and the Oakville Galleries in Toronto. Saydam also took part in the 18th Istanbul Biennial. The conversation will focus on her artistic practice and the newly acquired works.
