Series of events: ‘History in Conflict: Soviet Myths’
The ‘Great Patriotic War’ remains to this day a central point of reference in the memory of the Second World War in the post-Soviet space. However, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, diverse and, in some cases, conflicting cultures of remembrance have developed.
What role does the Soviet war myth play today in Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania? How is it exploited politically, reinterpreted or called into question? Prof. Dr Gelinada Grinchenko, Prof. Dr Violeta Davoliūtė and Prof. Dr Jan C. Behrends will discuss these issues.
with
- Dr Gelinada Grinchenko (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich),
- Prof. Dr Violeta Davoliūtė (University of Vilnius),
- Prof. Dr Jan C. Behrends (European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder)) and
- Dr Jörg Morré (Berlin-Karlshorst Museum, moderator)
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Germany.
The event will be held with simultaneous interpretation in German and English.
