With *Das Narrenschiff*, Christoph Hein most recently produced a brilliant social novel in 2025 that moved many people and became a bestseller. *Der fremde Freund* – published in West Germany under the title *Drachenblut* – marked the literary breakthrough of this successful author in 1982.
