works for synthesizer trio performed by Lange//Berweck//Lorenz

Transient Spheres brings together three outstanding female composers of live electronic music: Johanna Beyer, Georgia Koumará and, with a new composition, Iris ter Schiphorst.

Johanna Beyer’s Percussion Suite from 1933, performed on three synthesisers, sheds new light on her work beyond the well-known ‘Music of the Spheres’. In her piece, Georgia Koumará engages specifically with Berlin’s Vox-Haus, a venue of particular significance in the history of sound. The highlight of the evening is a long-awaited new composition by Iris ter Schiphorst, who is writing for synthesisers again for the first time in decades.

Lange//Berweck//Lorenz is a Berlin-based trio specialising in electroacoustic music. Since its formation in 2014, the collective has dedicated itself to realising electronic scores, restoring and (re)performing historical works, and collaborating with contemporary composers on new pieces. Today, Silke Lange, Sebastian Berweck and Martin Lorenz take to the stage as a trio with a laboratory of analogue and digital synthesisers and machines; the live performance on the instruments is enhanced by video and lighting design.
