An intensive course on bowing for cellists
In this intensive course, Sue Schlotte demonstrates many ways in which you can further develop your bowing technique through improvisation – whether on your own or with others. In ensemble playing, for example, repeating rhythmic patterns can help a new technique to develop autonomously almost without you realising it.
When you let go of the score and play freely, space is created to release tension and play with ever-increasing ease.
Participants will also explore bowing techniques such as staccato and spiccato, discovering new ways of expression.
Songs from CelloByHeart Music – a collection of songs from different cultures – form part of the course.
Those who are completely new to the cello will play a rhythm on a single string, whilst others play the melody or accompany with chords. Or make up their own.
CelloByHeart is a method developed by Sue Schlotte for cellists, combining technique, improvisation and musicality – from the very first note right through to professional level.
All playing levels, from Cello Novice to Advanced Cello, are welcome.
If you’re travelling a long way and might need somewhere to stay overnight, get in touch at info@berlincelloacademy.com and they’ll try to put you in touch with a Berlin-based cellist where you can stay – and perhaps make a new friend.
10% discount for CelloByHeart – see CBH Space for the promo code.
