The ‘MarienVokalconsort’ and sign language performer Jan Sell invite you to experience sound, space and movement in a new way.
What do people perceive when they are inside a church? Many people associate it with the sound of the organ, choral singing or prayer. But how do deaf people experience such a place? ‘Fear not …!’ invites you to discover different forms of perception.
The “MarienVokalconsort” explores the space through music, whilst sign language actor Jan Sell does so through poetic movements. The programme centres on works by Johann Crüger and Johann Sebastian Bach on the themes of birth, praise, mourning and consolation.
This musical and theatrical performance brings together sound, movement and space, encouraging both deaf and hearing people to engage with one another and rethink the boundaries of perception.
Artistic direction: Marie-Louise Schneider and Steffen Tast
