On 15 October, Daniela Sepehri will be reading from her new book *If You Look Away, We Will Be Killed: A Call for Genuine Solidarity with the People of Iran* and will discuss what solidarity with the people of Iran means today and why their struggle for freedom must not be overlooked. Judith Albrecht will be hosting the evening.

In her new book *‘If You Look Away, We Will Be Killed. A Call for Genuine Solidarity with the People of Iran”, the German-Iranian journalist and social media consultant Daniela Sepehri draws attention to a struggle for freedom that is barely noticed beyond the fleeting media spotlight. At the same time, she asks why human rights struggles worldwide – from Afghanistan to Palestine to Syria – so often fall out of the public eye or are reduced to simplistic narratives.

She criticises the inaction of politicians and the media, but deliberately counters this criticism with a different perspective: her book shows that even in the face of distressing news, hope is not lost – and how much courage, strength and resilience are mustered by people around the world who stand up against regimes that show contempt for human dignity.
