The conservation and restoration of glazes presents specific material-related challenges in terms of finding suitable substitute materials that can be used both for the consolidation of porous glaze layers and as a filling material.
This lecture will introduce the hybrid polymer ORMOCER®-Glas and provide an overview of the current state of research. Using selected practical examples, the lecture will illustrate the possibilities for processing and application in glaze consolidation and glaze repair, and will discuss the potential and limitations of the material.
