Porcelain and Music: A Romantic Interlude at the KGM

The ‘Porcelain and Music’ series at the KGM brings together ceramic and musical creations. Amidst original pieces of porcelain and faience, music is performed that references the exhibited works of art in various ways.

This year’s theme, ‘Schäferstündchen’, draws the eye and the ear to the pastoral utopian worlds of the 18th century.

The aristocracy’s longing for a carefree life in harmony with nature is reflected both in the porcelain figurines and in the music, the lyrics and the choice of musical instruments.

On 24 October 2026, the ensemble ‘Société Lunaire’ (Shira Patchornik, soprano, and Maximilian Ehrhardt, harp) will present a multifaceted programme featuring works by French and German composers.

Salon music at its finest, composed for precisely that clientele who could also afford porcelain and faience. Between virtuosic lightness and sensitive melancholy, a musical language unfolds that musically imagines an idealised Arcadia.
