The Festival of Lights
From 6 to 10 November 2026, the MAGICUM – Berlin Magic Museum will be celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. The focus will be on the stories, traditions and cultural background surrounding one of the most significant festivals of the year for many people of Indian and Hindu heritage.

Over five days, the MAGICUM will explore various aspects and customs of the Diwali season:
- 6 November – Dhanteras
- 7 November – Naraka Chaturdashi
- 8 November – Diwali & Lakshmi Puja – the main day
- 9 November – Govardhan Puja
- 10 November – Bhai Dooj
Visitors can learn more about the various traditions, discover stories and explore the cultural significance of the festival. It is not just about the familiar images of lights and colours, but also about the diverse stories and customs associated with Diwali.
Diwali also holds special significance in Berlin. The city is home to a growing Hindu community, whilst people with Indian roots are, of course, an integral part of Berlin’s diverse urban society. With its focus on Diwali, MAGICUM aims to highlight the diversity of Hindu and Indian culture and provide open access to the festival’s traditions.
