Closing Workshop Performance, preceded by: DREAM BABY DREAM
Anthony Braxton, a defining figure in contemporary avant-garde music, is set to meet the next generation of jazz musicians. As part of a workshop lasting several days, the visionary composer and multi-instrumentalist will offer around 25 students from the Jazz Institut Berlin (JIB) an insight into his artistic practice. The JIB Creative Music Orchestra, formed as a result of the workshop, will rehearse a piece composed by Braxton especially for this occasion and learn his improvisational language, ‘Language Music’. Braxton’s body of work is in a state of constant flux and is continually expanded through new concepts and ideas.

With the concert in the Georg-Neumann-Saal at the JIB, the JIB Creative Music Orchestra will provide a highlight of this year’s Jazzfest Community Week.
The film DREAM BABY DREAM (2026, 21 mins) will be screened before the concert.
