*Auf meinen Schultern* is a solo performance by the dancer and choreographer Raphael Moussa Hillebrand, his first at the Ballhaus Naunynstraße. Drawing on his experience of growing up in Berlin in the 1980s and 90s, he attempts to give form to his own life experiences so that the next generation – and his own child – can build on them.

About the piece
A dance, breakdance, spoken and performed account, with musical accompaniment by the cellist Eurico Ferreira Mathias.
The story isn’t over; the story goes on. My daughter! Happiness and madness go on. My mother is white, yours is black. I grew up at the West Pole, you in a cosmopolitan city. Do you think the story ends there? Berlin is so big, so free, so violently provincial.
Half the city was the cosmos of my childhood; with a roast chicken outing to another galaxy. Are privileges short-lived? Do they broaden one’s horizons or blind one? Who does the whole city belong to? Who is it made for? For you, for us? Black Berliner. I’d like you to be spared a few experiences. But how?
