Public Movement (Dana Yahalomi)

Public Movement conducts research through action and transforms historical and archival materials into scores and situations. In doing so, political structures are understood not merely as subjects of representation, but as systems to be entered into, tested and performed.

In her lecture, the artist and choreographer Dana Yahalomi (Fellow 2026) will discuss Public Movement’s meticulous research into identity, nationalism, art and the staging of citizenship, as well as how systems of identification are constructed and performed.

She will discuss the translation of research into action and the resulting performative formats.

Yahalomi presents *As One. New Action for Frankfurt*, which was developed during her 2025 DAAD fellowship and created to mark the 100th anniversary of the first International Workers’ Olympics, held in Frankfurt in 1925. The talk then turns to her current research at the intersection of espionage and the art world.

The focus is on moments where state institutions, artists and art institutions converge – in a grey area where the possibilities of an art of fiction unfold.
