In Poulenc’s musical theatre piece *Les mamelles de Tirésias*, Thérèse rebels against the mania for reproduction, breaks away and calls for revolution. In a land of unlimited possibilities, Thérèse can transform herself; her body is merely an interchangeable shell, and so she evades her social duty. This duty now falls to a handful of men, who, however, are all too quickly distracted by absurd whims, trivial bets, a pixelated penguin on Herrmannplatz and the wise counsel of the city pigeons.
