Encounters – Symposium – Festival for the very young

FRATZ International was launched in 2013 by Theater o.N. and has since brought the international children’s theatre scene to Berlin on six occasions.

Every two years, FRATZ presents extraordinary guest performances at various venues across Berlin. In addition, a symposium is held to discuss and explore the latest developments in dance and theatre for very young audiences. Colleagues from various countries and regions come together in Berlin for this international exchange.

The festival is aimed at children aged 0–6 and takes a decentralised approach. It is important to us that art and culture are accessible to everyone, regardless of age or social or cultural background. That is why a core element of the festival is that the guest performances are staged across Berlin – sometimes at (temporary) venues in districts where there are otherwise hardly any theatre offerings for children.

The organisers are also working to improve accessibility for children with disabilities and special needs. For certain performances at the FRATZ Festival, they expressly invite anyone who feels more comfortable in an inclusive atmosphere. These performances are labelled ‘Relaxed Performance’.

FRATZ International Encounters – Symposium – Festival for the Very Young, 9–15 October 2026, is produced and organised by Theater o.N.
