CIACCONNA CLOX: KLEINE GESCHICHTEN von TOLSTOI

Using simple materials such as straw, wool, earth and bread dough, a dancer and an actress bring these Tolstoyan gems to life. With plenty of music and humour, they act out and dance the roles of the various characters – children, a grandmother, even a dog and a bird – and immerse themselves in their seemingly simple stories.

"ciacconna clox" present a production that, in a crisp 45 minutes, adapts a handful of short stories by Leo Tolstoy – using the simplest, most fundamental tools of theatre, which, under the direction of Stefan Ebeling, are brought to life by actress Katja Rogner and dancer Anna Städler in an enchanting interplay of small details. Rogner and Städler create images, moments and atmospheres into which the audience is skilfully and unobtrusively drawn.

What Rogner narrates in sentences always reduced to the bare essentials and portrays through precise gestures is visualised by Städler through her dance; she transforms it into a different language which nevertheless enters into a dialogue both with Rogner and with the materials on stage (earth, wool, apples…).” (Steffen Georgi, LVZ)
