Counter-power: A crash course in the democratic offensive
The shift to the right is real, the fascistisation of society is advancing – and so is the outrage over it. Yet there is a gulf between analysis and action. The new series of discussions organised by HAU Hebbel am Ufer and FragDenStaat aims to bridge this gulf and take things a step further.
How can anti-fascism work in practical terms?
The series kicks off with an evening dedicated to the Freedom of Information Act: whether it’s minutes, expert reports or chat histories, the Freedom of Information Act enables citizens to request access to public records.
Currently, senior government figures are calling for tougher restrictions that could make such requests impossible – an attack on our democratic infrastructure. Yet the Act has long since proven its effectiveness, from exposing lobbying influences to revealing sensitive ministry documents.
