Invisible, burnt out, cast aside: an artist struggles to survive, caught between a basic income scheme, shifts at the till and existential anxiety. Stocking shelves in the morning, working the till in the afternoon – there’s no time left for art.

In ‘The Last Shall Be the Very Last’, Luis August Krawen uses his mother’s story to tell of those who are said to have ‘failed’ – and how this (pre-)judgement has become ingrained in them.
