Final Sprint in the Slime Cosmos

Of course, it won’t be let go without a fuss.

There’s a special programme on the exhibition’s final day:

Express tours will take visitors on their final journeys through the world of slime. Why are snails role models for slime? Does primordial slime come from the sea? What happens during decomposition? And why do our bacteria produce their own slime?

In the ruins of the lecture theatre, slime reveals its sensual, performative side.

In ‘Gootopia’ (site-specific; ‘goo’ is the English word for slime), the focus is on the interaction between the performer Ann Muller and various slime substances. Slime is both material and performer in this context: it performs with, on and within her body. Human and slime touch, interconnect and intermingle; they form alliances. New connections emerge, bodily boundaries become fluid, and spaces of association open up for other, slimy, utopian life forms.

The audience are invited to freely choose their position and perspective within this slippery universe and to understand the body as a porous, tangible organism connected to other life forms.

Do come along. The museum will be open as usual on Sunday 6 September from 10 am to 5 pm. A museum ticket is required to take part in the programme.
