Training and Professional Development of Female Photographers in the Weimar Republic
Women photographers have shaped the history of photography from the very beginning—yet for a long time they remained in the shadow of their male colleagues. This lecture examines the educational and career paths of women photographers from the 19th century through the Weimar Republic.
The focus is on technical schools, studios, and networks that opened up new perspectives for women, as well as their diverse fields of activity spanning art, documentary photography, advertising, and photojournalism.
