At the heart of this extraordinary program is the music of Frédéric Chopin—both in its original form, featuring some of his masterpieces for solo piano, and in a newly discovered arrangement of the Sonata for Cello and Piano for bass clarinet and piano. Chopin’s musical world is framed by impressive and energetic compositions by 20th- and 21st-century Polish composers, including Grażyna Bacewicz, Witold Lutosławski, and Joanna Stepalska-Spix.

Duo Kermani-Gentili
The Kermani-Gentili Duo is known for its original programs, which combine musical discoveries with fascinating background stories.
In their concerts, the two musicians take the audience on a journey through the cultural and historical connections of the works and offer brief insights into the composers’ lives, the creation of the pieces, and special musical details.
Joining the Kermani-Gentili Duo on stage will be actress and performer Zuza Salicka, who will guide the audience through this event. She is a multilingual actress and performer from Poland who lives and works in Berlin. Through her work with text, movement, and voice, she brings a fresh and fascinating perspective to the “Surrounding Chopin” program.
