Kinemathek – Art House Theater

Two people, two memories, a shared past. In 1986, the parents of director Carlotta Kittel met in Berlin. When her mother became pregnant and decided to have the child, contact with the father was severed.

Twenty-five years later, Kittel speaks with both of them—separately. She then shows each of them what the other has said. This creates an extraordinary dialogue, even though the two never actually meet.

With her impressive debut, Carlotta Kittel explores the power of memory, differing truths, and the search for one’s own identity within one’s family history.
