In her songs, Sophie Trost explores the things that move her, whether they are personal experiences or sociopolitical events. The music of the Sophie Trost Combo is both lighthearted and serious, danceable, and leaves room for improvisation.

The members of the Combo enrich Sophie’s songs with influences from jazz, bossa nova, reggae, Latin American rhythms, pop, chanson, and much more. With heartfelt vocals and warm clarinet tones, Sophie creates soulful, catchy melodies.

Matija’s virtuoso guitar playing provides delightful surprises. Underlying it all is the smooth groove of Phil’s bass, which percussionist Luis rounds out with diverse and subtle rhythms. In May 2025, the Sophie Trost Combo released their debut album, “Into This World We Plunge,” which has been featured on several cultural radio programs and is regularly played on radio3 (kulturradio rbb), hr2-kultur, and SWR2.
