The Golden Twenties and the Years That Followed

In its new revue, the ensemble presents hit songs from sound films, couplets, and swing melodies from the rich repertoire of this legendary era.

Well-known artists such as the Comedian Harmonists, Heymann, Hollaender, Brecht, and Weill are featured, as are Oscar Straus and Paul Abraham, who are considered the co-founders of the Berlin jazz operetta. The Weintraub Syncopators are also featured.

Stefan Weintraub and his band were the first German jazz band of international stature. In the 1930s, their tours took them throughout Europe, to the Soviet Union, and even to Japan and Australia!

The BERLINER VOCAPHONIKER accompany the artists from Berlin into exile in America and back to Germany, exploring how their music evolved in the New World after their expulsion from Germany.

An entertaining and moving evening featuring enchanting melodies from operetta, cabaret, theater, Hollywood, and Broadway.
