Tanztreffen der Jugend: find no words to say

Sometimes the most important encounters happen where words are no longer enough. *find no words to say* moves within this space—where feelings, thoughts, and experiences are not explained but physically shared. When joy is too great to put into words. When anger clenches in your throat. When a simple “How are you?” finds no honest answer.

Inspired by everyday experiences and personal moments, the piece explores situations in which the body takes over where words fall short: the intensity of a glance that says more than a thousand words; gestures that transcend all language barriers; the silence following a surprise or a moment of deep connection. But silence can also hurt: the feeling of not being heard, of not being able to find one’s own voice, or of being silenced from the outside.

The piece moves through these states—from overwhelm to anger and speechlessness to joy and genuine connection—and ultimately returns to what remains: the deep connection to one another that lies beyond words.

The JugendTanzCompany at fabrik Potsdam currently brings together nine dancers aged 15 to 18. Together, they develop their own choreographic works and deepen their practice in contemporary dance through weekly training as well as collaboration with various artists and working methods. The company was founded in early 2023 under the direction of Giulia Del Balzi.
