To mark the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the CAMERA WORK Gallery will present the group exhibition “Never Forget: September 11, 2001” from September 5 through October 2, 2026.

Through 40 selected works by fourteen photographers, the exhibition offers glimpses of that historic event, which took place a quarter-century ago this September.
The works in the exhibition depict the metropolis of New York and its world-famous skyline as it once was; they document the unforgettable events surrounding September 11, 2001, and how these events have changed and shaped the people and their city. These are photographs that reveal a human touch and personal depth, which repeatedly overlay the documentary core of the works.
Among the works are iconic photographs by Thomas Hoepker. Like other members of the renowned Magnum photo agency—including Elliott Erwitt, Bruce Gilden, and Susan Meiselas—Hoepker was in the city on September 11, 2001, for an agency meeting and documented the inconceivable. The aftermath of the events is, in turn, reflected in the work of Patrick Demarchelier, who, as part of a charity concert held as early as October 2001, photographed actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Harrison Ford, as well as singer Elton John. The photographic artist Eugenio Recuenco addressed the events in his series.
