Friedrich Greiling, aka FreeDaRich, aka Mittekill, has been shaking up the club scene since the turn of the millennium with techno-blues, electro-chansons, and punk-house. His music is characterized by raw elegance, uncompromising diversity, and hypnotic energy. It serves as the magic carpet for his rebellious prose, with which he satirizes the state of our times—sometimes desperately, sometimes with a wink. Mittekill transforms that sense of unease—somewhere between pathos, pose, and farce—into a dance floor with a rich, full sound, only to whisk us away to a completely different place the very next moment with a piano ballad.
The “Mittekill moment” arises when a subtle sense of humor cuts through the paranoia, outshining the dullness through playful rhyming, neologisms, and wordplay.
Dedication, imagination, and a sense of style crackle with energy. Hand-picked electronic elements and canned sounds are processed so that every particle, every beat, finds its place in the frequency spectrum of the Mittekill worldview. Subtly nuanced sound samples are countered by clattering electro-punk, which in turn is driven out by piano-driven chanson.
In the end, everything comes together to form a picture, a dazzling whole. Let’s finally stop devoting our time to the economy. With Mittekill, a minute is worth more than 60 seconds.
Pre- & Post-Show DJ: Die Julias
Julia Wilton (Pop Tarts, Das Bierbeben) sings and plays bass. She is joined by Julia Krummhauer, who enriches the sound on keyboards and provides backing vocals. The songs are created collaboratively.
Here, the visionary obsession of a Werner Herzog meets the subversive literary edge of MÄRZ Verlag. The Julias deliver the ultimate soundtrack to radical, unwavering aging. What does that feel like? Roughly like watching the world go to hell while holding a lit cigarette and a bowl of fries.
Musically, the duo draws mercilessly and with impeccable style from the pop-cultural treasure trove of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. The result is a dazzling blend that, on the one hand, flows familiarly from the speakers like the afternoon lineup on Radio 88.8, and on the other, carries the surreal, scorching heat of a trip to Acapulco that’s completely spiraled out of control.
