Through his work, Christoph Schlingensief relentlessly drew attention to the injustices of the present.

In the fall of 2026, the Gropius Bau will dedicate an exhibition to Christoph Schlingensief titled “Es ist nicht mehr mein Problem, macht eure Scheiße alleine, which illuminates his visionary work—spanning sensational political actions, radical theatrical productions, and the fusion of performance and visual art.

The exhibition is not intended as a traditional retrospective but rather brings key bodies of Schlingensief’s work into dialogue with one another.

In this first comprehensive exhibition in Berlin in over 10 years, the focus is therefore not on his completed body of work, but on the process of questioning, doubting, and failing that characterizes Schlingensief’s practice:

“In my view, one can fail with enthusiasm, joy, and determination. [...] If one manages to accept inwardly that failure is necessary to harness one’s strengths, a great deal will happen.”

  • Curated by Raphael Gygax, curator, with Christopher Wierling, assistant curator, Gropius Bau, and Dalwin Kryeziu, management trainee, Gropius Bau, in collaboration with Aino Laberenz, Christoph Schlingensief Estate
  • Exhibition Management: Filippa Carlini, Project Manager

A joint project of Gropius Bau / Berliner Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien, and MAK – Museum of Applied Arts
