Kornél Mundruczó brings Verdi’s *Otello*, based on Shakespeare’s play, to the Deutsche Oper—a production that takes the audience directly into the inner world of a man consumed by jealousy and guilt.
His film selection: Michael Haneke’s *Caché*. What is repressed does not disappear.
Synopsis:
Popular French TV host Georges Laurent begins receiving anonymous, disturbing drawings and secretly recorded videos depicting him and his family. As his marriage plunges into a deep crisis and the recordings grow increasingly explosive and personal, Georges desperately tries to find out who is behind them—after all, the sender seems to have known him for a long time.
With “Unlimited,” the opera comes to the movies: In one of the auditoriums at the delphi Lux, artists we encounter during the opera season will showcase their secret favorite films, guilty pleasures, or cinematic sources of inspiration in the context of the opera productions—and introduce them in person. All in keeping with the season’s motto, “Make Love…”
