For the first KIRILL & FRIENDS BERLIN FESTIVAL, director Kirill Serebrennikov and his ensemble will bring theater, dance, film, and opera to various venues in Berlin from September 4 to 13, 2026. Following international successes, key productions will be presented together for the first time in the capital.

Highlights include “LEGENDE, a visually stunning theatrical work inspired by the world of filmmaker Sergei Paradjanov; the stage adaptation of Vladimir Sorokin’s novel “The Snowstorm”; the physical theater production “Apocalypse Tomorrow”; and the solo dance performance “The Demon’s Mourning.”

In addition to the performances, the festival focuses on artistic exchange. International workshops on physical theater and contemporary opera provide a space for new ideas and encounters. The program is complemented by a film program featuring selected works from the Cannes Film Festival—some of which are being shown in Germany for the first time—as well as public discussions with writer Vladimir Sorokin and actor August Diehl.

The festival concludes with the presentation of the Ampersand (&) Grant, which supports artists who are further developing their work in Germany. In this way, the festival sees itself not only as a showcase of works but also as a platform for international collaboration and new artistic perspectives.
